BRT stands for "Bus Rapid Transit"!!! It has been started in Delhi so as to ease the transit time between two points; provide a safe and comfortable mode of transport to the Public at large at the same time; to reduce the congesation on Delhi Roads.....

Very LOFTY and NOBLE thoughts of our planners indeed!!!!

But; alas; even before it has started it is a FALURE. PERIOD!!!!!

But why?

Because of lot of hypothications( which are far from the facts!); distorted statistics; desperation of powers that be to get the traffic under 'CONTROL' somehow....          AND

PLANNED AND EXECUTED BY PERSONS, WHO I DOUBT, HAVE SAT BEHIND THE STEERING WHEEL AND DRIVEN THE VEHICLE  IN A LONG LONG TIME!!!!!!
Relying on official vehicles; duly driven by drivers; and reading their their presenatition papers enroute to the meeting to discuss, say for the sake of example, this very meeting on formation and execution of BRT!!!!!

For those of you who are not residents of Delhi and may be less informed; BRT  was concieved by the powers that be as a LONG TERM SOLUTION to the woeful Delhi traffic problems; which seem to be sky rocketing inspite of all the 'GOOD INTENTIONS' of Planners and executors of our Delhi Roads and their erratic users!!!!

Towards this end, a stretch of road was carved out of the 'existing' roads, SEPERATED(thus narrowing the usable surface even further) by making a corridor; ONLY FOR THE USE OF THE SPECIAL COMFORTABLE BUSSES FOR THOSE WHO COULD BOARD THEM!!!

I say this, because, all the boarding and alighting 'stations' were  more or  less made SMACK MIDDLE OF THE ROAD!!!!!

Any one of the readers who have ever seen or used a railway crossing is aware that while waiting for the arrival and deperature of train, so that the 'gates' open; on both sides of it the vehicles 'TAKE UP ALL THE SPACE ON THEIR SIDE OF THE ROAD'!!!!
As soon as the gates open; we have a situation where all the vehicles are standing; face to face; all over the road!!!!!
Making a passage; taking of say about 15 miniutes in the normal crowded mode; to a job taking,  at times a over six hours; OR MORE!!!!

Like wise; on seeing that; the lanes meant for non- BRT vehicles are over crowded; it spills over to the BRT-corridor.......; with similar view as depicted above!!!!!

THE PROBLEM: UNCONTROLABLE TRAFFIC CHAOS ON VIRTUALLY ALL ROADS OF DELHI

THE AIM: TO CONTROL THE TRAFFIC TO SOME KIND OF
ACCEPTABLE LEVEL OF MADNESS; IF NOT CONTROL IT  ENTIRELY

THE EXECUTION: TOTALLY MISCONCIEVED AND FAR FROM
REALITY SITUATION AS IT EXISTS ON THE GROUND

SOLUTION: REVAMPING OF THE ENTIRE SYSTEM FROM A SCARATCH WITH PRACTICAL AND WORKABLE RULES OF USAGE


WHO CAN DO IT: MMMEEEEEE!!!!!!
